Obituary for Darrell Eugene Rucker
Darrell Eugene Rucker, 86, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2021, at his home. He was born on June 21, 1935 in Spraytown, Indiana, the son of the late Frank H Rucker and Sarah Devers Rucker, where he lived his entire life. Mr. Rucker is survived by his wife, Patricia A. McQueen Rucker, whom he married at his family home in 1955 and would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. He is also survived by two sons Vince Leonard Rucker and Kevin Lynn Rucker, nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Darrell began his education at Spraytown School and in 1953 graduated from Freetown High School. Following graduation, he was employed for 35 years with Cummins Engine Company where he became good friends with J Erwin Miller and farmed for most of his life. He was a member of the former Acme EUB church. Mr. Rucker was instrumental in starting the Pershing Township Fire Department, Freetown, IN and always helped with the Freetown Fourth of July Celebration. He was a member of the Washington Masonic Lodge No. 13 of Brownstown. He was kept busy with sponsoring ball teams, fishing and hunting mushroom. He along with his wife owned and operated Ruckers Upholstery and Refinishing in Spraytown for several years and also ran the Spraytown Grocery where he delivered meals to Cummins Walesboro Plant and Rose Acre Farms. Darrell loved his cats and his little Yorkie, Mimi. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Barry Alan Rucker. Services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at 11:00 am at Winklepleck & Brock Funeral Home, Brownstown, Indiana. Burial will follow at Acme Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Monday, April 12, 2021 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until time of service All arrangements have been entrusted to the caring staff of Winklepleck & Brock Funeral Home in Brownstown. Due to Covid-19, we continue to follow CDC Guidelines which stipulate that face masks and social distancing are required at all times during visitations and services.
