Obituary for Albert Leroy Kinworthy, Sr.
Albert Leroy Kinworthy, Sr., age 88 of Gulfport, Mississippi, and formerly of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away at Gulfport Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Mississippi on Monday, April 2, 2018. Mr. Kinworthy was born October 26, 1929 in Ewing, Indiana to Dan and Myrtle Allman Kinworthy who preceded him in death. He married Betty J. McCasland on April 12, 1952 and she preceded him in death. Al retired as a Master Sargeant from the United States Air Force after 26 years of service. He served during the occupation of Japan and the Korean War. He then worked as a supervisor at the Vehicle Operations for the National Defense at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi.
Al was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, and American Legion. He loved fishing, hunting, was an avid collector and loved to play fast pitch softball.
Al is survived by his children, Albert L. Kinworthy, Jr. (Linda), Vickie K. McKnight (James), James E. Kinworthy Sr., and Karl E. Kinworthy; grandchildren, James E. Kinworthy, Jr., Crissy Bengochea (Ricardo), Jimmy McKnight, Heather McKnight, Kyle Kinworthy, Linda Bristow (Chris), and Rocky Marsero (Dawn); sister, Selma Lucas (Amos). He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bob, Bill, Dan Jr., Pat, Eugene, Mildred, and Geneva.
Friends may call from Noon until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Winklepleck & Brock Funeral Home in Brownstown. Funeral services wlll follow at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, with Pastor Mike Newlin officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean & Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour, Indiana.
